About StruxureWare Data Center Operation cluster environments

For improved performance, you can run StruxureWare Data Center Operation in a clustered environment with multiple servers. For improved data security, you can add an offsite disaster recovery node.

When running StruxureWare Data Center Operation in a clustered environment, each node in the cluster (besides the initial StruxureWare Data Center Operation server) requires a high availability license. A disaster recovery node also requires a high availability license.

Example: A cluster setup with 3 servers requires:

  • 1 StruxureWare Data Center Operation license
  • 2 high availability nodes

Running StruxureWare Data Center Operation in a clustered environment requires low network latency. Therefore, it is generally recommended to have the clustered servers installed on the same data center site/subnet. All nodes in the cluster setup must have a static IP address. If your setup includes a disaster recovery node, you can have a firewall between the cluster and the disaster recovery node.

Your network must support VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol). If your network does not meet this requirement, rather than using a clustered environment use a disaster recovery setup.

Running a cluster setup in a virtual environment is not recommended as it adds complexity to the cluster configuration and might decrease the cluster performance.
